iPod ASP
A quick look at the progression of the iPod's average selling price (ASP) since it launched. Rapid decline in the early years, with new, cheaper models being launched, but then, once the right price and product mix were arrived at, total stability for almost a decade.
These figures are not adjusted for inflation - they're the numbers from Apple's accounts. However, there's a big shift in mix in the second half - around half of iPod unit sales in recent years are of the iPod Touch, so though the overall average has stayed the same, the value proposition has changed.
